Surprising victory of Alexej Zima

Early on the stage, five optimistic riders attacked on the first climbs of Weyburn - Estevan. They managed to keep a gap between them and the peloton until they reached the final climb. At the bottom of the climb, the group of favourites passed them. Rider by rider, they couldn't keep up with the tempo set by Czech Bus Drivers, who were supporting Drahoslav Sekanina. Right behind the riders of Czech Bus Drivers was Alexej Zima and Jan Podlaha lurking. Drahoslav Sekanina looked strong, and seemed to have a good day, but when Jan Podlaha launched an attack, only Alexej Zima could follow. Alexej Zima made a counter-attack and was suddenly alone in the front, as Drahoslav Sekanina caught up Jan Podlaha once again. Alexej Zima secured his victory without problems, while Drahoslav Sekanina was faster in the sprint than Jan Podlaha.
Today's stage fit well for me - I simply had to try my luck. And see what happened?, said a smiling Alexej Zima. The winner had no other comments, he quickly went to the team bus in order to celebrate the win.
The manager of Czech Bus Drivers was proud of his rider today. Alexej Zima has been training and preparing himself for this race. It's an important victory - both for Alexej Zima but also for the team.
