Cycling alongside the border of Norway, inbound of Sweden and across the remarkably charming village of Torsby for a welcoming season opener (or simply a lower-league warm-up for some teams). How does that sound for a time-trialist?

Often raced in the summer, the Torsby ITT is a Swedish OCM race starting right in the middle of the Fryksdal branchline, and allowing the many riders to go through this short time-trial race of 10 km in no time.

Although fairly lacking in terms of prestige, the Torsby Individual Time-Trial is a fairly challenging race despite its short length of only ten kilometers. As the weather in this municipality is not as welcoming as the route is, riders must prepare for decent amounts of cold wind as it is a very nordic city well representative of Scandinavian climate.

This time-trial includes a surprising amount of tough climbs with sub-7% gradients throughout the race; riders, for instance, only go uphill and never downhill, which adds to the complexity of the route.

Torsby ITT is also composed of many hills and flat roads on plateaus that may comfort some more well-rounded time trialists, who may be struggling the other different parts of the time-trial.

Historically speaking, time-trial specialists tend to do well in this race despite its lower-league status, but mostly due to the low level of competition. However, as the race seems to gain in prestige, climbing time-trialists will always take the advantage in this route.
