The fifth and penultimate stage of the Odyssey of the Oryx takes the peloton from Sesriem to Bullsport. Once again through the Namib-Naukluft, this relatively short stage of 102 kilometers is completely unpaved and almost completely uphill, although it doesn’t get very difficult until the last five clicks. The finish line is drawn at Bullsport, which is derived from Bull’s pass, which was the name given to the farm when this was the only passage through the Naukluft Mountains for Ox wagons and stockherds. Today however, the riders won’t be using wagons, but bikes, to cross the Bull’s pass.
