The small city of Sandessjøen (population of 7,400) is called the Port to the Cost of Helgeland and is perhaps most famous for the epic views to the mountain range, The Seven Sisters.
Luckily for the riders, none of the sisters are on the itinerary for the day, but there are still two climbs to take on in the short race of 69 km. The first is typically the initial selection of the day where a group of riders can get away from the peloton.
After the descent, 25 km of flat terrain remains before the race is settled on the final climb of 7km at an average gradient of 6%. A win in Sandnessjøen GP is a good stepping stone for any rider trying to break on to the OCM scene.
