The terrain in Riobamba - Ambato includes many steep and hard climbs and has many incredibly hard downhills. The terrain hardly includes any hills and has no flat distances. The stage has a very easy and flat sprint, meaning that the stage possibly will end in a mass sprint. The route doesn't demand much technique from the riders.
