The final destination; Mount Beauty, is a small nearby town that lies alongside the Kiewa River. The town was originally established to house construction workers from the Kiewa Hydroelectric Scheme in 1949.
The 107km route between Omao and Mount Beauty traverses the infamous Falls Creek alpine climb, a Hors catégorie climb 30km in length at an average gradient of 4%. It reaches a maximum elevation of 1,780m at the summit, where an equally long descent awaits.
The major climb will not only test the best climbers in the peloton, but capable descending skills are also required for those looking to claim victory. The small hill at the finish line will once again tip the scales in favour of the climbers who are left from a likely reduced field.

Description
The terrain in Omao - Mount Beauty includes many steep and hard climbs and has very hard downhills. The terrain includes a few hills and has no flat distances. The stage ends on a small and easy climb. The finishing climb never gets steep. The route isn't technical at all.
