The race takes places in the region of Berane , famous for its slow pace and ski resorts , in a relatively remote part of north-east Montenegro. Mojkovac is a charming village of 4000 souls , mostly known because of the battle which take place between the Army of Montenegro and the Austro-Hungarian army during the first world war.
Portuguese rider Bernardo Veleda from team cilmeri is the only one who won it twice. Unfortunately , due to locals being highly corrupt and difficulties to find sponsors , the race has never been picked anymore by the OCM institutions.
The race totals 87km and gives a chance to win to a versatile profile. The riders start from the main street and head south towards Kolasin and its ski resorts. Later they go east, past Berane in direction of Rozaje. The road is going and down until that point and is pretty narrow , after that they take the motorway E65 back to Mojkovac , where you still need to have some energy left in the tank , especially with regular head winds favoring the heavy riders.
The last 10km are pretty hilly again , as you approach Mojkovac , and the local crowd comes usually from all the region and gathers on the bridge above the Tara River before the last sprint , if any.
