The mideval origins of the city meant the rider had to navigate some narrow twisty roads at the beginning and end in the city center. However most of the route was on the bypass around the city, which did not test the riders technical abilities much.
The last edition of the race was in season 25. Like so many other races it suffered during the great recession at the end of season 25. As Holbæk is situated in a rural part of Denmark it was just not possible to attract sponsors to keep the race going. Even having a great list of winners like Isac Tingmann who won it in season 20, in which he also placed 4th at the WC ITT, was enough to save the race.
