The riders will start in Benidorm, the city with the highest number of high-rise buildings per capita in the world. They then head south with the Mediterranean on one side and the hills on the other. Luckily for the riders the hug the coast all the way to Alicante, and thus avoid the hard climbs, they might even find the view enjoyable.
Once the riders get to Alicante they will have to complete 6 laps of 6.5km around the Castle of Santa Barbara. The castle dates back to the 9th century, when the Moors rule the Iberian peninsula, and sits atop the Mount Benacantil. The local laps go through the narrow streets of the Alicante city center, which will test the riders technical abilities to the fullest. The finish line is placed on the Carrer de Jovellanos right next to the beach. After the race the riders can cool down with a dip in the ocean or just relax in the sun on the beach.
