From Wergeland it’s 800 meters with climbing up to Landås. The last 600m up to Landås have an average gradient of 6%. But the riders can only rest for 1,2km before the next climb starts. The climb up to Sollien and Montana is 1,4km long with an average gradient of 6-7%. Perfect for a break away attempt. In the background the peloton can enjoy the view of Ulriken. Ulriken is the highest of the Seven Mountains (De syv fjell) that surround Bergen. It has an altitude of 643 meters above sea level.
From here it’s downhill towards Kalfaret, where the riders continue back to the city center. The peloton will pass Håkonshallen and Rosenkrantztårnet when they turn in to Vågen. Here they will pass Bryggen, by Fisketorget and Torgallmenningen. Bryggen is a series of Hanseatic commercial buildings lining the eastern side of the fjord coming into Bergen. Bryggen has since 1979 been on the UNESCO list for World Cultural Heritage sites.
After the riders have passed Bryggen, they will cross the line at Festplassen. But there are still 9 laps to go, on the same circuit, before the winner can raise his hands in to the sky.
