Its second stage will exhibit the surprisingly beautiful region of De Veluwe, where The Don had his young and surprisingly innocent youth. After starting in Ede, the peloton will head towards Wageningen, a university town where The Don should have been attending more lectures than he did. Just after Wageningen the first small hill of the day will be climbed, the Grebbeberg, famous for a battle during World War 2, and a zoo with some cute pandas.
The riders will turn back towards Ede now, and after riding through its boring city center be able to enjoy the moors, woods, and slight hills of the National Park De Hoge Veluwe. Now the peloton will quickly head towards Apeldoorn, the birthplace of The Don. Just before entering they will make a sudden turn left however, which will lead them towards Radio Kootwijk, a no longer used long distance Radio station, surrounded by beautiful moors. There will also be some short offroad sections here, testing the technical skills of the riders.
Next up is the biggest hill of the day, with a dazzling 107 meters in altitude. The Torenberg, or ‘Tower Mountain’ will have to be climbed twice, with one of its descents being offroad. Still, it will be difficult to imagine anything else than a full peloton when we enter Apeldoorn again for the final kilometers of the stage. This final stretch will be slightly technical, and the race ends up finishing right in front of Schiavi di Don HQ, where the winner will no doubt be attempted to be bribed. Not much time for it though, because Norway is our next destination for the final stage of this Cup!
