The nice climbs of the French one day race Ajaccio - Bastia really brought out the best in the profiles that did not disappoint. The favorites ate the breakaway totally - and Team Formand United's young star Oddvar Helgesen was the treat of the day!
The Swedish climber Tenander looked strong, but couldn't keep it up at the final climb, when Helgesen started pounding the pedals. The manager from Tenander's team had tears in his eyes, but the kid crying didn't help, when Tenander was left back in the wheels of evil "Odd" Oddvar Helgesen.
Team Manager Ebbe Spas from Team Formand United jumped up and down and really celebrated his young star's performance today:
- It has been a while since Oddvar's last victory, but this season is a new opportunity, and what a glorious climb today. I was afraid the route was not versatile enough for a podium for Oddvar, but he proved me wrong, Ebbe said to the sports press.
Oddvar had problems with his sexuality as always, but managed to keep the flag down and wave with his arms, when he won at the mountain top.
- We just had a perfect day out there today apart from a small defect with a help rider. . All in all I am super satisfied. The route was tough and did not expect the win actually, but the team really paced me through, said "Odd" Oddvar smiling to the French podium girls.
