I was writing a response while Don closed the thread. I still want to share some parts of it, so here it is. If a mod thinks is inappropriate, please let me know and I'll put it down, but in the meantime:
"As far as I know, cheaters have always been kicked off without warning in this game, so I see no reason to make exceptions to that precisely because of both of them being public personas. Also as far as I know, a team scouting a talent and another team picking up that talent without scouting it has been reason for bans before, especially if there's a pattern of repetition for these types of actions. -Edit: the actual cheating pattern has been disclosed in the original thread-
I admit that's unfortunate what happened to those teams, as I can see very easily how one can get into these types of transactions with good intentions and inadvertently step over the rules, and maybe a graceful warning would have been a more comfortable solution for Don to avoid backlash on him, but that would have been quite unfair to other some well known teams with managers that have been important for the community that have received the same ban treatment in the past."
I find _very_concerning that the community is divided over a ban on the grounds that the reason for the ban might be a personal vendetta of one of the mods against a couple of managers. As others, they are also welcome back to create a new team and keep posting whatever inconvenient thing have to say, so what would be the point of banning them just to silence them?
The day these people that spend their free time keeping this little community runing grow sick of putting up with backlash over here and call it quits will be the first day of the end of this game.

I think it is good if people that do not know about the single stat scouting read these comments and then may realize it was really cheating and ban deserving...
I am personnally confident that some tensions will ease and hope the forum will be positively lively.
that unites this community with its creator. So while I wouldn't be happy to see them leave because of their opinions solely, a part of me is hopeful that maybe this can ease tension in the forums, and not the contrary.
Yeah, i completely agree on that. The sad part is that most of the debates they presented could have been very healthy, had they been conducted in a more civil way, and especially Alex was perfectly capable of doing so. But in the polarizing rethoric (sign of the times?) was more akin to populist quasi-insurgence than to simple opposition and I also think it was eroding the already thin fabric tha
... and their reactions to that (or vice versa) was not beneficial for anyone nor the game as a whole.
Ah, I cannot read, Gerard already wrote the answer to my question :)
Thanks, that explains it fully! They are rightfully kicked then, and must have known that this was not supposed to be done. I hope this brings some more 'space' in the scouting - part of OCM, but I especially hope it brings more positivity, as the witchhunt on these two on their reactions to that (or vice versa) was not benefi
Thanks for explaining, Simon. I get it - a bit. Can you normally only single scout 1 stat, not 2?
KNowing 2 skills are good - usually does give you the knowledge.
You would need to spend 1k+4k to know the 2nd skill potential. They spent 1k each and knew the 2nd skill. This way they were able to scout 5 times more riders for the same money...
@Gewoon: yes, I see the advantage they had. A team is supposed to either know 1 skill for 1k, or all skills for 4k. You should not be able to know 2 skills for 1k you spent and 1k your friend spent (unless this is a public knowledge which you share about single scouts on the site)
Knowing 1 skill is good doesnt give you the knowledge if it is worth to hire a rider. Knowing 2 skills are good - usu
Yes, that a single person cannot scout 2 stats. You can single scout just once. So if I spend 1k scouting SP and I get an intriguing Good, then I have to spend the full 4k to see FR and TQ. Using their way, they could single-scout TQ and eg. if they see a None they saved themselves 2k. If they end up fully scouting the rider then they lose 1k, but by that point they are quite certain that the ride
I wholeheartedly agree. And as someone also said in the thread: please spend your time being positive. That said: do you see the advantage of the situation Don explained: they both single scouted a rider on different skills. Is that more beneficial than one person scouting two stats? I am probably missing something here...?
Wronskian, I was in the position of giving my opinion for once in such a discussion, whereas normally I read it but do not participate in it. You wrote many of my own thoughts here, I thank you for that!
