Porto: With 9 results, including the overall GC win, three riders in the top 9 of the GC and even 4th in the Sprinting Competition, Division 2’s Volta au Porto was an example of how to dominate a Tour. Sweden’s Mypa was the team in question and these results have helped them move up to the lofty heights of 11th in the OCM rankings. With the GC win, 1 stage victory and 4 podium placings, it was Herbert Andersson who did most of the damage. In a steady professional career, it is certainly his proudest moment and, at 32, he may not exceed this.
Japanese sprinter and Season 13 Young Gun, Susumu Miyazaki, (Hommerts Cycling Team), showed that he is also a force in the Tours by winning the final Time Trial, finishing 2nd in the GC and winning the Youth Competition. He has since achieved another podium in a Division 1 race, showing that he is going to be a factor in Seasons to come. Luther Mars (Super Bros) completed the podium in 3rd.
Miron Golovina (G D RAPOSENSE) completed his comeback by dominating the Green Jersey competition. The Kazak rider made it a highly | | successful Tour for his team who were competing in their home Tour by claiming three stage wins. Art Cruse (Luveaucek) came 2nd in the race for Green with Ethan Churchill (disco cycling) in 3rd.
Husák and Idalia - Division 7 Classic winners
An interesting quirk of Division 7 is that two of the its Classic are French, climbing races and happen one day apart. These two races took place last week and this year saw Spanish and Slovakian winners. First, the Spanish team Jabandija took a one-two at the Entrecasteaux GP with Ronald Husák and Oscar Odriozola. Max Utson (TeamYATES) took 3rd. A day later was the Draguignan - Gorges du Verdon Classic in which Spaniard Eliazar Idalia (Independencia) was victorious, his 4th result of the season. Otto Hemming (Team Crazy Downhillers) finished 2nd with Samuel Estradas (redop) in 3rd.
Waebergen takes Norwich – London
It’s been a quiet time in Division 1 with only one big day in the last two weeks. This was the Norwich-London Classic, a sprint finish in England’s capital which favours the
| | technical sprinters. In a competitive race it was Jens Waesbergen who was victorious, his second victory of the season, which saw the Dutchman oust Kyle Abston as the number 1 rider in the rankings. Torben Sturmann (Shinboners) came 2nd, his second 2nd place of the week, and Lance Le Noir (spartak) continued his impressive season by finishing 3rd.
Elsewhere, there were two maiden victories as Domenico De Assis (Team airik) claimed the Salles-sur-Verdon GP, and Jelmer Wijkstra (Team Tirilla) won Trincomalee-Jaffna. Elsewhere, Viggo Monsen continued his impressive rise as he won the mountain time trial at Salles-sur-Verdon ITT, Ralph van Bon claimed his first victory in two seasons at the GP Funen and, today, Dirk Herman showed he has no intention of retiring early by winning the Porto - Castelo Branco.
