The Jonhatan's Late Show
by Yuri, at 30/5-17 - 17:30 GMT

Hello ladies and gentlemen and welcome to the first episode of Season 2 of the Late Show with Johnathan Hernandez!

  Monologue

This is so late, but did you guys saw the pooing Tom Dumoulin? For those of you who don´t know, Tom Dumoulin stopped at 30km from the finish line because of a “technical” problem. Just to say, Team Sunweb misght aswell want to change their bikes to this: (https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DAhHzJ1XYAA5q9G.jpg:large) No, for real, it is impressive what Dumoulin did, pooing in less than two minutes. I take at least half an hour in the bathroom. But, enough of this disgusting bit of comedy, and welcome our guest for today´s show: from Denmark Jonas Pro Cycling , the one, the only Jonas!

  Interview

JHDZ: To start this off Jonas, how are you?
JONAS: I am fine, thanks for inviting me to your show. :)
JHDZ: No problem! It is a pleasure for me to have you here! What made you like cycling?
JONAS: I like cycling because it is a no bullshit sport, where performance and results counts. There are so many stories in the story. So many roles in the race and so mane hidden rules and agendas that provides a depth that most other sports don’t deliver. Many sports rely on fan appeal, hairstyles, fancy tattoos, neat tricks and screen performance whilst being interviewed. But riders like Sagan, teams like Sky and sponsors like Tinkov have changed the image of the sport during the years. Making it more like a showman sport than like the old-school sport I loved. But there are still more riders and teams from the old school than the new school.
JHDZ How did you join OCM?
JONAS: Actually, by accident. I was searching for Team Saxo’s webpage, and accidently ended on OCM. That's why I have this lame ass team name, since I initially only joined to see what it was.
  JHDZ What made you stay?
JONAS: Somehow the game appealed to me, with it's simple gameplay. People was also very helpful answering questions, when I started. Also, I wanted to become number one and could not leave before I had achieved that. Despite its many flaws and rulings in east and west, Nick has managed to make a solid game. Also, there is a great pool of people giving value to the game. It's surely nice.
JHDZ: Yeah, people are great here! For example, there is this fantastic, charming and flawless Mexican dude… Just kidding guys haha! What has been your best moment in the game?
JONAS: Winning my first jersey, Martin Østrup SC in Porto, which I did not expect. Actually, it was NCCC that convinced me to join the race, because he wanted less climbing competition. I wasn't planning on racing it.
Or maybe it was season 24 where Brian Hitchens did the tour sprinters hattrick,

winning SC in Vuelta, the parade sprint stage in Essex and SC in Germany, and that without top form. He was never properly recognized for that season, in my opinion. I don't know if any other sprinter has done the same in one season, but I think it is crème de la crème and still is my best season for a single rider in my team. Armando Silverira was close last season though, but I still think Brian Hitchens season 24 was the most impressive in my team.
JHDZ: How does it feel being number one?
JONAS: Like I not being the chaser anymore but being the chasee. Lot of pressure since the room for failure is as large as it can be. I wish there was a palmares for being number one, now I have fought for so many seasons for it. Somehow my jerseys and classic wins are easier to grasp then being number one, because I always can look at them in my palmares. New teams won't know how dominating in the rank teams like EEO, Sprint4live, Tirilla and so on was by looking at their palmares. But it feels great. It feels great to just once have achieved what those legendary teams have done. I still have a long way to go, to even hope to measure.
JHDZ: Something you are proud of?
JONAS: I am proud that I have managed to stay in top 10 since I entered it in season 24, only with season 34 being the exception. I have always put a great effort in aiming as high as possible in the rank, never dropping down. Many times, I have wanted to convert to a climbing team so I could target GC’s, but my desire to stay as high in the rank as possible, have made the climbing transformation out of reach for me. So, sticking to my goal for that many seasons and achieving the ranks I have done because of that, is what I am most proud of.
  JHDZ: Favorite OCM manager
JONAS. Must be a guy like Felgens from Nefal and Michael from Celeste. Those guys remind me why I started liking cycling. They seem very no bullshit and act like total gentlemen, they never talk down to other people, are never sarcastic and are also not the loudest in here. I have never seen drama involving those two guys, and yet they are high in the ranks. Their results speak for themselves. Pure role models!
  JHDZ: Favorite OCM rider
JONAS: Jerry Grundin or Farruco Alonso. Both very successful tour riders. Archetypes that remind me of respectively Alberto Contador and Alejandro Valverde. Two riders from the old school, that never complain or make excuses. They ride with their heart, have great skills and have big results. The thing I like a lot about Jerry Grundin and Farruco Alonso is that they were also big during the EXP doping period, without being super doped themselves. They have good experience I admit, but it is mainly their skills and not their TUE's ehm I mean EXP that made them the riders they were and are today. Two upcoming legends that in the future will be the riders to measure up against. Not only for GC riders but for all riders.
JHDZ: Plans for the future of your team?
JONAS: My plans have always been to be the person who sits

longest on the top spot in this game, once I was up here. It seems Johny is about to destroy that dream already and Comfius might as well destroy it next season. Futurewise, the team will go the way it's need for pursuing that ambition. But I must say, if something else like the experience bug comes up, where great riders won't perform, I am not likely to change my strategy to that. I do like this game the most when it is more transparent.
That’s it. Thank you once again for having me in your show! :)
JHDZ: Yeah, talking about that, I am not sure I´m done with you sir! Ladies and gentlemen this is the “Cycling Trivia”

  Cycling Trivia

JHDZ: Now this is literally a Cycling Trivia, I´ll ask you a total of ten questions about cycling and you´ll try to answer them correctly, sounds good?
  JONAS: Sure :)
JHDZ: Ok, let´s start with a SUPER easy question, which rider was nicknamed the “Cannibal” and is considered by many as the greater rider in cycling history?
  JONAS: Eddy Merckx
JHDZ: Correct sir! One of ten. Name one of Marco Pantani´s two nicknames
  JONAS: Elefantino and the pirate
JHDZ: Correct again! Who won the Best Young Jersey in the 2013 Tour De France?
  JONAS: Thibaut Pinot?
JHDZ: No! It is actually Nairo Quintana who took YC and KOM in TDF 2013. What rider, that rides for Dimension Data, can beak the most stages won in the TDF this year?
  JONAS: Mark Cavendish
JHDZ: Exactly! This year´s Milan-San Remo winner?
JONAS: Kwiatkowski. Loved that guy until he joined the dark force :(
JHDZ: Why does everyone hate Team Sky? I love perfection. That is correct by the way, only one mistake so far. Only Mexican to make the TDF top 10?
  JONAS: Don’t know
JHDZ: It is Raúl “El Duende” Alcalá! What is the record of GC wins in La Vuelta, and who holds it?
  JONAS: ¿El Pistolero by three?
JHDZ: I thought so, but Spanish rider Roberto Heras with four, one in 2000 and three in between 2003-2005. Greg LeMond has the smallest margin win in TDF history. By how many seconds?
  JONAS: 16 secs?
JHDZ: Half of that sir, it was 8 seconds. Who has the most Giro podiums?
  JONAS: Don’t know
JHDZ: Yeah, me neither. What rider was the last one to win back to back TDF GC wins? (Hint: My favorite racer and most hated I guess)
JONAS: I cannot say his name out loud. But he has no style on a bike. And his last name sounds like a motorbike
JHDZ: That´s right sir! Christopher Froome is the correct answer. Now Jonas, you had 5/10. I´d say decent, because there were some hard questions in there! Please guys leave your results in the comment section below (and your impressions of the show) Ladies and gentlemen that was Jonas! A big applause for him, and see you on the next one!
