Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose that is the mantra managers must repeat to themselves when they enter the world of Online Cycling Manager. It does not matter if you are better or have more rights, you have to be there and seize the opportunity when it arrives. We have seen the greatest riders fail in races they are designed for and yet, it is only their fault they fail and not the race itself. It is just there, and the same goes for the famous tours and their infamous sign up mayhem. You win or you lose and the only certainty is that you fight for one spot with many others. In the world of sports and games, remember this, there will be more losers than winners, cheerish the moment you won, because you will lose many more.

   Monte Rosa Tour

The majestic mountain peaks of the Swiss Alpes are the venue for the twenty first Monte Rosa Tour again. The teams in division five have been looking forward to this icon of a race for the climbers amongst them. The weather is still good but on the high mountains snow is expected and that could damage some riders in their hopes of winning the race. And without winning a stage the entire tour it was the French rider Marco Ziani who proved to be the most consistent rider with one second place and two third places to win the pink jersey.

  General Classification

  1. Marco Ziani, Un Deux Trois Racing
  2. Erwin Rolfes, KRV Rapid Habsburg
  3. Gerwin Lute, Byttingvik

  With

a third place overall the Dutch rider Gerwin Lute proved to be the future of the climbing aspirations of Byttingvik. Still young and already capable of delivering solid performances this is the rider that can become a Dutch great or at least for team Byttingvik.

  Youth Classification

  1. Gerwin Lute, Byttingvik
  2. Darius Porter, Blues Racing
  3. André Marinho, The Norse Code

   Volta ao Porto

The first major race on the calender is Volta ao Porto in division two. Many great riders have raced and won this race and even more have lost it. This was not a race that has been dominated by one single rider or team. In the end, the winner of the race, Samuel Isley managed only one third spot but it was enough to secure the General Classification and bring the golden jersey home to the United States.

  General Classification

  1. Samuel Isley, California Mist
  2. Gerard Kurek, Joss
  3. Luba Hadr, EpoTopTeam

When there was no domination in the General Classification there was domination in the Sprinting Classification. Qasim Kamal of Yuri SuperTeam was the alpha male with two victories a second and a third place, delivering him the sprinters jersey. He was helped by the terrible form of his major rival but you need to win to celebrate.

Sprinting Classification

  1. Qasim Kamal, Yuri SuperTeam
  2. Jordão Bento, Rigana
  3. Robert Wennerlund, Super Velo

More than two minutes between number one and number two, that is the difference between winning and winning by a mile. Luba Hadr of EpoTopTeam could become the rider that will win the next Volta ao Porto if he follows the footsteps of fellow EpoTopTeam rider Anastasio Marroquin. Eddie Madsen and Dimitri Rummens scored nice podium finishes but were no match against Luba Hadr.

  Youth Classification

  1. Luba Hadr, EpoTopTeam
  2. Eddie Madsen, ABK
  3. Dimitri Rummens, lexx

   Norwich – London

Critics said that Norwich – London, one of the oldest races on the calender is losing its magic. It does not matter how great this race used to be, today it is a dull race where the winner is almost always easy to predict. With Claude Lafon not entering all the bets where on either Kevin Surface or Frederick Longosiwa. A safe bet is a bet on the favourite and with only two favourites this race is no more. If it was a good race, we would have talked about the excitement and the surprise but it was Frederick Longosiwa that won just like two seasons ago. Looking forward to see him win next year again, or maybe I take a day off and do something nice.

  1. Frederick Longosiwa, Nairobi City Cycling Club
  2. Marten Schenning, peddelen
  3. Santiago Campelo, Gradient Levellers

Real good article. This statement certainly is true. "cheerish the moment you won, because you will lose many more." I find myself cherishing just getting in to the top 9 because OCM is that hard... Good article.
