Perm Tour - a preview

TTToler signed up with his whole armada. He's obviously looking for some slices of the pie in stage 3. Manager Jon Toler must have good memories from last season’s edition. His rider Dwight Koch won the Youth Classification. For this edition Vélez and Krajewski reached top form for this tour and can also be considered as top-9 GC candidates. The reverend is gonna pray for super legs in the King Stage for his GC hopes.

   V02maXXers

Manager Lamme Frans signed up with a team for only one purpose: winning the Sprinting Classification. At Norway Tour captain Folkert Gerrits got close with a 2nd place in SC. In top form his odds should be better. Especially the hill stage should suit him.

   Telstra

Climber Steve Brasher will lead Telstra’s squad. He is in top form and is one of the major contenders for the General Classification. He's more than properly surrounded by team mates. Manager Simon Jones has won numerous jerseys in Volta, Race of the Minutemen and even Germany Tour. A Perm jersey is still missing and he wants it so badly.

   Cyclomotiv

Team Cyclomotiv has been unlucky in tours this season. Captain Olivier Wittendorp received an injury during his TF period. The youngster Marco Italiano will happily take over Wittendorp's role though. This red AV rider could take home the Youth Classification jersey when he's able to avoid off days in the King Stage and the ITT.

   qazpl

Cycling team qazpl is mainly a sprinting squad. With Leandro Queirós they have a major contender for the Sprinting Classification in their midst. Especially the hill stage should suit him and he could have an advantage over the pure sprinters there. They also bring allround climber Hélio Ginjeira to Perm. He is at the peak of his career and he should be capable of securing a top-9 in the General Classification.

   Dormilon

Fernando Allende will probably lead team Dormilon. Stage 1 is simply made for this tremendous hill sprinter. He will be a contender for the Sprinting Classification. When he rides a proper TT he could also perform well in the General Classification.

   Lots o Huggin Bear

Manager Ichti signed up with an allround squad. The team could get top 9’s in every stage. Fathi Alsharaa can become

a Sprinting Classification contender when he delivers in the hill stage. The final stage suits him very much. He got a 2nd place there twice in a row.

   Por Noster

Team Por Noster competed also in Norway Tour. That was not a big success. A bunch of off days prevented captain Olimpio Djukate from getting some stage results. He still ended 9th in the General Classification. Perm Tour should suit Djukate more and when he can avoid off days we could expect some fireworks from him.

   Los Belgicos

Godfried Terwenhout will lead Los Belgicos in Perm. This skilled sprinter should be able to compete for the blue sprint jersey. The hill stage suits him and with 225 sprinting points prospects are good for the parade race as well.

   old town racing club

Last year’s GC and SC winner Griswald Pepper will be back to defend his title. He will be in top form according to his manager Brendan. This great allround hiller will have good support, especially in the hills. Can he hold on to his titles?

   Joss

Joss signed up with Arild Selnes as his captain and Joss is in the winning mood. Having participated in Norway Tour and won a stage and finished second overall, he is ready for Perm. With topform Arild Selnes can manage to stay in front easily. The question is, will he have topform when Perm Tour starts and will it last. We believe he will be too tired to play a big part this season.

   AKROBATE

Serbian AKROBATE has in Staas Grommers a more then decent climber as captain. His support for Perm is pretty good and we believe this rider can finish high in the following stages, especially those uphill. The second stage will be important for his complete tour, he will be finishing top nine, and if he is lucky top three.

   BennysBadekar

Ottar Styrkársson is a climber and the best climber in the Faroer. He is one of the best riders in division three and a pure contender in Perm Tour, for the victory. His support is weak and that would probably cost him the final victory but he will be back next year, I am sure about it.

   Rabo utrecht CT

Erik De Kelper is the Belgian sprinter for Rabo utrecht CT and they want the blue sprinters jersey. This means they have to do good in the first and last stage. And he could do that but he needs a special day on the first stage. And although

the sprinters jersey is a goal, a victory on stage four should also please his manager.

   Cycling Nieuwegein

This Dutch team is focussed on the mountain races in the OCM tour. And with Cisco Piza the are trying to do something wonderful in Russia. He will have to race very good the first stage and his support must lead him over the mountains on the second stage. If he manages that, he will have a good starting point in the timetrial and a nice result should be possible for this team.

   Ponika

Former winner of Monte Rosa Tour Vid Lazic joins as captain for Ponika. This rider has many victories behind his name including some World Tour results, stage wins and more. This rider is a giant when it comes to climbing and with topform he would be unbeatable. Vid Lazic has no topform however as his team is too dependent on him. A nice result on stage two and a top nine in the General Classification.

   Darkwave Recordings

Darkwave Recordings signed up for Perm Tour with Luis Landim. An experienced rider that knows how a race should be raced. Joined with a wildcard as he finished third last season he wants to be just as succesful as then. He should have used his topform but rumours have it it is saved for something special. Luis Landim will not repeat his performance of last season and should be happy with every point and coin he earns here.

   AnnoDomini

AnnoDomini is around for a while but finally he shows himself in the higher regions. With Darko Majcen they have a sprinter that should go for the blue jersey. Support is mediocure and they also want to play a role in the prologue with Mork. This team could do good if they are more focussed on one goal and not half focussed on two goals.

   Super Velo

Brooke Wilbur is the young star of Super Velo. This Englishman in American service knows how to sprint and he is ready to perform for Super Velo. With a more then decent team of leadouts behind him he should not be worried about the competition because there should not be any competition.
Should win at least one stage.

   Burren Connemara

There are a few people linked to Perm Tour and Cillian Cassidy is one of them. Burren Connemara won two jersey already and four stage victories. And they returned again because they have the team for it, the riders and the spirit. A crowd favourite and a dark horse with Drew Weiss. If he has topform, and he should, be aware of nice things to come.
