Perm Tour - a Preview
by Finz, at 31/10-13 - 00:05 GMT

  Written by Finz of NightmareChaos

Russia is ready for their moment in the spotlights. Perm is ready for twenty buffed teams that want to tackle the streets around Perm. Just a small who is who and maybe a little why, the presentation of the teams, their captains and their possibilities.

   Team WonderDee
From Norway we have the first team that signed up. Manager Christian was already camping outside three days ahead of opening. He had to sign up his young and upcoming Danish captain Hartmann “the Lover” Sadolin. In the end it was all in vain as his trusted helper Joel Høgisson thought it was neccesary to trip over his own feet and broke his pinky toe. Youth jersey probably.

   Lots o Huggin Bear
The lean green cycling machine, from Libya we see Lots o Huggin Bear. Thought to be first in sign up but ended up second in the end. Will this be a premonition or, will he be able to win something in the end. Fathi Alsharaa is aiming for a nice blue jersey.

   Peloton Pushers
White as snow with hair as red as blood, we greet the English team of Peloton Pushers. It is rumoured that their secret weapon will be the reflection of their white legs. Hunter “Tom” Sawyer is leading and want to do good in the second stage. We fear they honour their name and are Peloton Pushers.

   NightmareChaos
Korney “Horney” Agliullin is hot. In topform. And the captain of the most awesome team Perm has ever seen and will see. NightmareChaos is the home favourite, from Novosibirsk with charismatic manager Finz and his beloved PR manager Nikita. Will they warm the hearts of the cold hearted locals. Yes, they will. The party room is already booked.

   Burren Connemara
This Irish team with a history in Perm will bring a complete Irish line up. Drew “the Leprechaun“ Weis is the smallest captain in the complete OCM calender. Will he deliver another pot of gold to the team or will they behave very Irish and swear a lot in the end.

   Cyclocomotiv
From the Netherlands we have this team, Cyclocomotiv. What a strange name is that but, they have a nice team with Marco “the Italian” Italiano from Italy as a young and upcoming boy wonder. He will be in topform and tries to use it to win the Youth Jersey. Or he will be after the ladies using his topform there.

   Seeds2
Scotland, the land of, well, everything you have but then in a less civilized form, bring us Seeds2. What is with the 2 you say, indeed. Why not SeedsSeeds. Besides Seeds is already plural, the 2 behind it is completely without

function. Will this be the case with Burton “Have a Nice” Day too. This Scotsman has some nice shape, great team and is aiming for the Pink Jersey.

   AKROBATE
Capitals in your name, to make you stand out and look bigger. That can only mean one thing. But this Serbian team is giving it a try. Staas “Grumpy” Grommers will be a key figure. A great climber, but he is lousy on a timetrial bike. A nice stage but, not good enough for the Generall Classification. But we are open for surprises that makes it all worthwhile, surprise us.

   POM Wonderful
POM Wonderful is from the USA. The land of sugared drinks, lousy tv shows and fat people. No wonder this American team has no American athlete in Perm. Having faith in Yonnas “Smooth” Lelisa is the only thing they can do. A very nice sprinter from Eritrea and they want to bring home the Blue Jersey. They promised him American citizenship if he does, that way they can still claim an American victory.

   naboar
Next in line is the great unknown. From Hungary is naboar, a team not many have seen in action or even knew about its existance. This team has a great climber as captain, Gera “the Goat” Borbely. He will be keen to win a stage and if that is not everything we believe he will win the second stage and become the most worshiped man in his hometown of Göd.

   Eriknogwat
Eriknogwat is team number two from the Netherlands. Translate his team name and you get something like, Erik and something else. Let us assume that something else is Jozua Bodde and his merry men. A very nice sprinter with very strong muscles born from two full blooded Dutch people on a farm. They had to make a bike that is twice as strong as any other bike. He wants to bring home the Blue Jersey.

   Joss
Joss from Norway wants a new challenge after winning the Race of the Minutemen twice. This American race is very well known but, only half as prestigious as this Russian race. And that is the reason Joss is trying his luck in Perm with Friedhelm “Sauerkraut” Kuhlmey. This is a very good climber but we believe they wished they never joined. Russia is a bit tougher then America, sorry Joss.

   Optimus Prime
From Germany we welcome Optimus Prime. You got to give it to them, they never give up those Germans. This time they give us Vidar “the Viking” Lien with some good support. Their main goal, win the last stage and maybe a Blue Jersey.

   Pasiegos cycling
Durango “the Lizzard” Lazaro did what nobody thought possible. This great climber, will he be in topform, left the beaches of Spain to

endure the Russian outdoors. He will be able to grab the White Jersey but he has some competition. Will his injured teammate be the piece of the puzzle that stays missing or will he beat all his competitors and be victorious. Only time will tell.

   Penendal Racing
Dutch team Penendal Racing, with superstar Reinier “the Villain” van der Sar want to upset some teams here. A great climber in the prime of his carreer and backed by a great team of fellow climbers. There is only one “but”. His form is decent, maybe it is good but, it is not super. No topform will give this rider a nice result but not the victory he is hoping for.

   team tdb
Cesar “the Missing Link” Zelda is the superstar of Dutch based team tdb. A more then decent rider that can sprint very well. A decent team behind him with some chance of finishing up front on the last stage. Will this Angolan superstar be a winner or will he be mediocre, we fear he will be like his communist upbringing. It looks nice in theory but in the end it will not sustain.

   VC Botafogo
Tom “The Beauty” Bella is back. Mr. Handsome or the Australian Good Looking. It all looks nice but, when will he deliver. Whispers in the peloton say that time is ticking. If he does not deliver fast this guy will be kicked outside. This is the time to show if he is a man or a mannequin. He can win this race, one of the favourites.

   don hamstre team
Some teams work hard for their goals, sacrifice life and family for that one goal. Make a dream come true, work seventy-five hours a week, sleep too little, drink too much coffee. Plan, change plans, re-plan and finally, just barely, make it just in time. And some just got lucky.
This Dutch team is of that last kind, don hamstre team forgot he had a wildcard but was notified by Rostam Sirjani's former team manager. Zhou “Ding” Dong is their captain, lucky bastard.

   Cremtec
Given the honourary name, Mister Perm, we welcome Cremtec again. This time with a new captain. Fitzgerald “the Wild” Pagan is their man. Or is it. They have a great Scottish rider, Sam “the Spaniard” Velasquez. He is in topform but a bit under the weather after his stint in Cymru. Who will be their captain. Time will tell but, great to see you back again.

   Pomada
The oldest team in this field, Slovakian Pomada. This team can beat everybody in Perm, the way he just barely managed to claim the last available spot, right on time. This is proof that manager Indurain is sly as a fox. He will use all his experience to beat every single one of these noob managers for the title of Perm winner. Tóno “Abe“ Ábelovský is good enough for it and a rider worthy of a great trophy.

Pagan isn't captain, I made sure I only had 6 riders available when wildcard spots came available and signed up straightaway... Velasquez is captain... Aiming for blue!
