Perm Tour - a preview

The Russian division three tour in Perm is starting again. It is the twenty-fourth race and counting and that means this is one of the older tours on the calender. A real goal because everybody wants to win this great four day race around Ochjor and Perm. Let us meet the teams.

   Team WonderDee
A manager from a few seasons back has re-joined the ranks of professional racing again. Christian is joining with an all Scandinavian team to Russia. Hartmann Sadolin is his captain and he will do very good in Perm. They even say he is in topform. Let us see what this guy can do. Youth Classification is a certainty.

   PEKAC B
Number two in the Czech Republic is PEKAC B. He is entering with a very nice home grown sprinter. They will go for the final stage for sure. The parade race in Perm is their main goal. The Sprinters Classification is a side goal. Bohuslav Racko is a in great form and already won a stage in Cymru Taith.

   EricV
Will Cody Bright win his first tour this time. He has won some Youth Classifications already and some podium finishes. But the first position was always too far away. Again he has prepared himself for it to shine in a tour. He has the support with him, the form to match. This must be his season and if not, he will be even more eager to win it next season.

   NSCT
An all Swedish squad by NSCT. Ingemar Mannerström is their captain. This rider can win the Perm Tour if he was a little bit better in the timetrial. He will loose too much time here to get a nice overall classification. A top nine in the end is a possibility and a nice stage result is also within reach. When will this team invest in a time trial center. That is the biggest question.

   Tompot
French Tompot is having a very nice climber in their squad. Bill Dodemaide can climb like no other. Perm is not a race for climbers but he may score nice in the stage that has many hills in them. This is a stage hunting team. They lack the depth to go for a General Classification but they are happy if they finish short in the stages.

   Burren Connemara
Former winner Burren Connemara is present with an all Irish squad. Drew Weiss is their main man. A sprinter that can do good in the hills and can ride a decent time trial. If he can manage to secure a great form this rider might be tempted to aim for a second Perm win for the team.

   KAS KASKOL
  The

first of three, KAS KASKOL present the Spanish armada. Having the Venezuelan champion as their captain in their squad they are eager to attack the General Classification. But disaster has struck just before we wrote this preview. Moses Bricenos got hit by bird poop straight in his eyes and is now blurred visioned. He will start injured in this tour. Who will lead this squad now. Will they be our dark horse, getting a great advantage in a breakaway and win it anyway?

   Alpha Plus
American squad Alpha Plus is another regular to Perm. Although they are from the USA they seem to enjoy the hostile environment in Russia. With Godofredo Isasi they want to secure a first place in the Venezuelan standings and take over the jersey from Bricenos. They most likely will not play a big part in this race as they did not take with them their star rider Pitillas.

   Sa Portasa
The second Spanish team is Sa Portasa. They are fully prepared for the last stage. They have no hopes for any General Classification only the last stage counts. Leonides Angeloz is a great sprinter and has some nice support with him. In the end we will not think they have a chance for victory but we are willing to be surprised.

   Ocaña
The final Spanish team is Ocaña. This team is a familiar sight in tours. They support again their Welsh superstar Hartley Rich. An allrounder that should be capable of winning this Perm Tour once in his career. The support is decent, his preparation is good. If this results in topform Rich is regarded a favourite for this tour. If not, then Hur should really use topform next season.

   KK Fajfa
Slovenian outfit KK Fajfa puts their faith in a climber from Belgium. He is good in the hills as he trains in the Ardenes but he lacks the pure strenght on the flat stages. We believe he will do good in one of the hilly stages this tour but finally falls short in the General Classification because of his lack in timetrial and flat roads.

   Coventry Corinium Club
The Steel boys from Coventry have faith in a foreigner from Wales. Wyatt Sahr holds the Welsh jersey as the national champion. A great rider with only one flaw. His timetrial. And that flaw will keep him from winning the Perm Tour. His supporting team is not very great also and a decent result in the hilly stage is all that can be expected.

   Designa Legends PPDB
Noe Rubio from Spain is a second year member of this Danish team. A great hiller and climber and also very decent on the timetrial. Will this be the package that will win this season's Perm Tour. He brings a nice

support team with him, this is a favourite.

   IndieRock
If experience gives a bonus, this team is having a lot of bonus. IndieRock is a team that wants to ride tours no matter what. With Eliot Wacker they have a captain that justifies that goal. Already won a race in division two he is well upto the challenge. A top nine in the Generall Classification is something they can expect. His form however prevents an top three finish.

   Cremtec
I am very sorry Cremtec but, you have Jude Evans in your team. Do we need to say more?
This rider has just received the honourary citizenship from Perm and Ochjor and you have him again as your captain. Winners material.

   Beardy Bikers
Noa Vallée is a new rider within the OCM ranks. Already finished third in the Monte Rosa Tour Youth Classification. This time he wants to win the Youth Classification in Perm. And if he is lucky he wants to win the General Classification also. And he can do it, he has the skills and team for it.

   Eriknogwat
Jozua Bodde is still eligable for the Youth Classification. And this timetrial specialist wants to secure that result in the timetrial. If he can win it and steal enough minutes from his competitors then we have our Youth winner after stage three. If not, then we have our winner of stage three.

   Manisaspor
Turkish Manisaspor failed even before the tour to deliver something he had promised. Will this failure backfires on his team with an injured captain that will recover just in time for the start but will not be in great form? This team only has a chance if they spot the right break away and manage to stay up front. Nothing special should be expected by their fans.

   Shelbourne FCCC
Second Irish team Shelbourne FCCC is having an Australian captain that can be considered a true allrounder. The only thing that he still fails to be decent in is the time trial. If he can do that finally then he would be an interesting outsider. For now only one or two top nine places in stages are expected. If they are lucky.

   Team Oasis
Last but not least is Iranian squad Team Oasis. Having their favourtie in topform Rostam Sirjani is ready for Perm. Winning the Hawaii Classic did great for his morale and team spirit is at an alltime high. Could this be his tour and secure another year in the squad? Rumours are going around that many riders are free to look around due to a shift in strategy by team management.
