  Stage 10
Jan-Joost Dussel had a great leadout train in Porto resulting in unthreated victory while Malmros who was in his wheel finished second. Behind them Miyazaki got boxed in by Drejbo, who finished third, and barely got a sixth place leaving him with a 2 point advantage to secure is green SC jersey. Aside from Dussel who got 10 seconds bonification no changes in GC where made as the local circuit was all flat.

  From the ambulance:
Because the GC contenders didn't have to fight for the first place of the peleton no dangerous situations occured thus no injuries.

How the race was won: GC
After the prologue and a sprint stage it was time for the first test. Most favorites stayed close together but some lost time amongst them Leitão, Deyhle, Geiger and Team Majones time trialers lost some time. Last year’s number three was out with an injury.
After another sprint stage the long TT was up. Putin and Bauwens were the winners in term of GC with Drejbo, Stilwell and Lefever close-by. Miyazaki, Aguiar, Freitas, Leitão and Papadimitriou lost some decent time but still remained within shooting range.
Stage 6 was said to be the King Stage but exploded no before Morias made his move with 5k to go, Bauwens followed and took the stage. All the remaining favorites followed one by one and no big gaps were made.
Stage 7 was the final climbing stage and saw Bauwens win again with the Poker21 duo in his wheel only Miyazaki, Freitas and Putin remained close enough to maintain chances for GC win.
Stage 8 is normally for the sprinters. Miyazaki

winning was not surprising but the sprinting group was cut loose from the pack making Susu, Stilwell and Putin able to make some seconds on the rest.
Stage 9 was the last TT and moment of truth for the remaining GC competitors. Putin won the TT but more important Bauwens and Stilwell collapsed under the pressure making Putin this year’s Volta winner. Stilwell finished second and Bauwens fell to third.

How the race was won YC
Bauwens was our favorite and he never had any threat of the other youngsters. Deyhle already lost much time on stage 3 while Freitas ruined his first TT. Climber Morais looks promising but has to work on his TT. We expect Bauwens to come back and fulfill his promise made by winning the black jersey.

How the race was won SC
Before the first sprinting stage a lot happened in the small sprinting scene in this year’s Volta. Onie came with an injured lead out and Lastplace1414’s captain Sherman was injured in the prologue.
Meanwhile Miyazaki already had 15 points for finishing second in that same prologue.
Stage 2 saw Dussel victorious with fellow countryman Posthuma second Susu got third and remained in the lead of SC
Stage 4 Was already deceive for most sprinters as Miyazaki took the win ahead of Dussel . Shermann last man Davin Wann was third but he and Posthuma were already so many points behind that the SC had become a two man race.
After the GC stages, where no SC favorite scored points, stage 8 was again for the sprinters if they would survive the hard parcours. Miyazaki was victorious and increased his lead by 19 points as Dussel was tired by the hard day and surprised by the involvement of GC riders in the sprint.
The parade race in Porto saw Dussel as winner of the final stage. For a moment there was some confusion who won the green jersey as Miyazaki was boxed in during the sprint and did not finish with the first 5. But when a replay of the sprint was shown to the public it was clear Miyazaki had taken 6th place and had won the green jersey with an two points lead.
