  Day 3

Salim Wajeeh came out on top in a tightly contested Stage 4 ride to haul himself straight into GC contention this day. The Equipe 44 rider rode a tactical race to finish just ahead of Nicolas Brunschwig of the Doomsday Bunnies and Wit Feaux of IGF.

Wajeeh then followed that up with a 2nd placed finish at the Aveiro ITT to do his chances no harm at all. General Classifications leader Filip Orzechowski of Team Unibet was hot on his heels this time though, to ensure that not much time was lost before they headed into the all important mountain stages.

Dodge's Fenton Sommers easily won the

time trial stage with a blistering ride to banish the demons from a slightly lacklustre Prologue performance.

The main talking point of the day's racing however, was from a team that failed to make much of an impact at all.

French outfit Drapeau Noir endured another miserable day on Portuguese soil with its riders failing to register any kind of result.

Team principal Delion was reportedly fuming at the lack of effort, scathingly claiming that it was "the worst period since the team was created".

He then singled out Claude 'Magic' Pardons, pointing out the veteran sprinter had finished behind climbing specialist Ruddy Lind on Stage 4.

  "It's a nightmare, it is."
