Schaanwald is located in the western part of Liechtenstein and lies at the foot of some of its highest mountains. This gives cyclist an ideal start point for their climb as they ascend through picturesque villages such as Triesen, Ruggell and Gamprin before reaching Malbun. In total, they will have to cover around 1,000 meters in elevation gain on the way.
Malbun is a small alpine village situated at an altitude of 1,730 meters above sea level and offers dramatic views over Liechtenstein’s landscape. Its slopes are covered with lush green meadows and small pine forests making it an ideal spot for recreational activities such as hiking, biking and skiing.
The terrain on this route can be challenging due to its long climbs and switchbacks with some sections reaching gradients up to 15%. The landscape along the way is breathtaking with rolling hills, rugged mountain peaks, pristine forests and magnificent vistas from high above offering fantastic views over Liechtenstein’s countryside.
