So, it is the day's final hors categorie climb to the summit of Sheep Mountain that will be the decisive feature of the race. The unrelenting 7.8 mile climb has an average gradient of 7.8% and features eight switch-backs.
While in theory a breakaway could win the day, the break would need a significant time gap heading into the climb up Sheep Mountain to hold off the feather-weight climbers that will be champing at the bit for an opportunity to climb to victory in Wyoming's beautiful mountains.
