Season 28 - A New Hope

Written by Gradient Levellers at 06:17 19/6-2014

Season 27 saw the virtual closure of the Gradient Levellers - team sold, training staff let go and all sponsorship ending. A name destined to be virtually forgotten, with perhaps a mention here and there in a newspaper article and forum post as other managers poured through OCM history.

Then at the start of Season 28 out talent scout, who had not heard of the team closure, turned up and reported that he had a found a real talent. A sprinting talent who would make fans remember the previous Levellers sprinting talents of Fraga and Balanchine. Santiago Campelo was immediately signed and a trainer hired to work with him closely. No one else was hired until it was sure this guy had what was required.

He did, and subsequently a new team has been built around the 23 year old Portuguese. Since his debut on day 55, Campelo has gained 796 points and 12 results, including 7 wins, taking the team up to Division 2. He also won both GC and SC in the Giro di Sicilia, the team's first tour win in 5 seasons.

It's been fun to be in the lower divisions and see new races and race against other managers. We're looking forward to having another go in the Volta, 17 seasons after competing in the first edition. Hopefully, we'll make it to the Netherlandse tour where top form will be used. As for other races, who knows?

Specializing him in tours now. Should be 88/94 at the start and in the final stage, according to the old race analyzer, he's 77.89 ;-)
