Stefan Zak found redemption at last. Having been dropped on the final climb of the afternoon of Snina - Klenová he decided that no one was going to ruin his attempt to add another stage victory to his name.
The peloton made sure that the breakaway did not gain any advantage over 4 minutes and they were soon reeled back in. With the favourites all together on the lower slopes of the climb, Stefan Zak suddenly made his move and quickly opened a gap. This gap was soon too large to cross and he took the stage victory with ease, showing his class.
Despite the hopes that another podium finish could be obtained, other attacks soon saw the other Saxo Bank riders fall off the back of the leading group of riders fighting for second.
However, it was another great day for Saxo Bank who have already registered three podium finishes since arriving back on the racing stage.
