Once more, with feeling

Written by Crescent DBS at 10:42 20/10-2011

Today, Ture Ivansson all but claimed the Monte Rosa title, after finishing fifth in the fourth stage.

"Yeah, our tactics was to keep our heads cool and not respond to everything, and make sure that Merenga and Caluwé doesn't gain time on me. I couldn't quite follow Pietrzyk, Garrido and Mantilla in the last kilometer, but I knew that if I just kept a steady tempo, they wouldn't gain enough time on me", Ture said in the post race interview.

He also said "Without the support of my team mates, I could never have done this. Telkamp helped out on the flat, protecting me from the wind, Fallander and Jönsson pulled the field apart in the mountains, and our new young Romanian, Radu...Radusch...Radu! also helped a lot, while still placing fairly high in the YC and GC for one so young. But the special thanks has to go to Jim Österman, last years winner, who selflessly helped me to keep the jersey in Crescent DBS. Pure class."

When asked, Jim Österman himself said "You have to hand it to the kid, he's matured a lot in this season. After the prologue, where I didn't go very well, I went to the manager and said that we should all help Ture, since I wasn't in top shape, and Ture was already higher up in the GC. I'm really happy for him, and I'm hoping to see more of the same for many seasons to come."

The manager of Crescent DBS was last seen thrown into a pool by the riders to celebrate the victory.
