PLYMOUTH, DEVON.
The base of Visit Cornwall's venture into pro cycling is an odd one. Satellite training centres exist within the Cornish borders, but with quicker transport links to the continent it's Plymouth and London where DS Piran Seaworth conducts his planning for his new squad.
The form of Hamlin Deville, an experienced Cornishman, has guided the team to quick promotions into Division Six. A surprise win on the cobbles of the Furst-Puckler Race has been the highlight of the team's existence thus far. However now Deville finds himself with more competition for crucial top ten finishes that can provide training funding for his younger teammates.
Piran's men slumped to a disappointing Abbey Road Race hampered by an injury to Aiden Lavelle. They find themselves pointless in more than a week, requiring patience and careful planning to move further up the 6th Division.
"We're still on the look out for a second team leader to take the load off Hamlin. We've also invested into identifying the talents of our younger riders and hope to invest money into training these guys on the hilly roads of coastal Cornwall".
"We encourage the cycling fans of Cornwall to remain patient while we find our new signing, develop our talents and build our brand outside of the county".
"We want to be a top 10 English cycling brand".
The team returns to action in Denmark next Monday as Hamlin Deville hopes to return to top ten form with two consecutive races expected to end with sprint finishes in Aalborg.
