After very good season 37, season 38 was even better. That was mainly because we were very lucky with a minimum off days in important races (except from our traditional off day in Bordeaux – Toulouse, which we as primarily hill climbing team desperately want to win).
Some statistics of season 38:
Rank at season end: 4 th (best in the history, previous best was 6th)
Points at season end: 4244 (best in the history, previous best was 3596)
Total victories: 8 (not beating the team record of 10 victories in season 33)
Total results: 32 (best in the history, previous best was 26)
Cash race earnings: 509k coins (also best in the history beating 443k from season 37)
In short, how did our captains:
Farruco Alonso had another unbelievable season with 1420 points and 10 results. With his 3rd GC win in Vuelta de los Castillos, he gained his 13th jersey and align the historical record of Sandro Montelbano. He still has a few shots to make his alone on the top of this ranking. Besides of the win in Vuelta, he managed to score top5 GC results also in Essex and Germany.
Little Monster scored 890 points and 7 results and wore the Portuguese champion’s jersey for a few days. Unfortunately, his great days are coming to their end with the end of 2016 and the changes in the game.
Rolon Cabrero had great days with an outstanding win in Critérium La Provence, 840 points and 5 results. Also he wore very valuable national Spanish champion’s jersey.
The TTers branch was established shortly before the end of the season but delivered a few nice top nine results. This was crowned by amazing 2nd place in World Championship ITT of our youngster Zdislav Janota.
Another home trained youngster Mauritio Salinas was one of the best scorers in the U23 races but his most valuable result was a victory in top division race Stuttgart – München. Also his abilities will go down with the new year.
Due to excessive number of off days in previous seasons, Mano Losada passed his captaincy role to Little Monster. He got only one chance to show his abilities which he did amazingly with his 3rd place in Ulm – Augsburg. He may get a few more chances in season 39.
Season 39 preparation highlights:
For season 39, we reduced number of climbers so we only have one climbing team now. On the other hand, TT team was introduced and we hope they will deliver some points and coins and will help us to stand on the top. The multiple transfers in the recent days killed our team spirit but everything should be back in standard 90+ for the most important part of the season which will come between days 40 and 51. Farruco, Little Monster and newcomer Des Campese from CyclingClubChomutov should be in top form in those days.
