Bøje Porsmose was born in Næstved, Zealand, Denmark. A town with a population of 45 000 inhabitants.
He started his cycling career at the age of 12 and soon he won races both at track races and road races. He won numerous medals at the Danish Youth Track Cycling Championships and his favorite event was the omnium. At 21 years old he was the National Champion at the omnium event and got to compete at the World and European Track Cycling Championships, without any huge success.
The following year he got a contract the English division 1 team, Gradient Levellers, before he shortly afterwards signed with Italian division 1 team, IndieRock. Already in his first year Porsmose got to compete at the World Championships, where he ended in 86th place.
He stayed with IndieRock for 12 years, without any huge success. His best performance here was a 4th place at Nuoro GP.

Then he changed team to the Norwegian team, Team Kruse Smith. He immediately made an impact on the lower divisions and stayed with the team for 8 years, before he signed a contract as a coach at the team. In Team Kruse Smith Prosmose took 6 wins and additionaly 10 other podiums.
