Born in Bear Creek Mississippi as second child (of 5 kids) Owen Lincoln started his sporting career as a 5 year old playing baseball in the backyard with his cousins. He finished middle school (as second best student) before going to the Hinds Community College in Utica.
He went there everyday by bike, a 10 mile ride from Bear Creek. His parents decided to buy him a racebike, not a new one, but Owen fell in love with his new two-wheeled friend immediately. He became the well known ‘cycling kid’ to those living at Zion Road and Chapman Road…

On saturday he was doing some jobs at the H&G Sawmill and every Sunday he went to Morning Start Church… by bike. Both at the good old Chapman Road.
After finishing college (again as second best student) Owen decided to make a cyclingtrip by to his uncle in Calhoun City. A small cycling team, Kingsbridge Cycling, on trainingcamp near Calhoun City, mentioned him on the road. Owen decided to join the team and this is how his career started.
Owen started as lead out for Terry Caldwell (now trainer for the team) before becoming the main sprinter in season 52. His first podium was a 2nd place in Alcalá – Cadiz. The feeling of being a 2nd place finisher (also the first looser) will stay with him for ever probably…
He is still proud of his second place in Michigan race Midland-Garden City in season 53.
Ofcourse he’ll always remember his 3rd place (and 3rd podium) at the Faroe Islands, but after 9 second places and 7 third places, and 25 other top ten finishes his best days are already behind him, leaving him a bit dissapointed.
He started his life as second child, finished both schools as second best, and became second best many times during his cycling career. Number two seems to be like a devil on his shoulder.
In season 55 he became lead-out rider for Team USA. He joined the national team for 21 times, only at sprinting stages.
“Now, at the age of almost 36, without any win, I still count my blessings” Owen said to a local news reporter. “I’ve been cycling all over the world, had a great time with my team, had the opportunity to ride with the national team for 21 times… even Tommy (Timmons, teammate) who has won some races didn’t have that opportunity, so I guess I must be grateful for all I experienced.”
