Tommy Timmons was born as only child in Wears Valley, in the eastern parts of Tennessee. As a kid he loved to cycle, he liked it a lot. Cycling to his favorite fishing spot. With a little bit of fishing gear he rode to the small Cove Creek. After hiding his bike in the bushes near Roundtop Drive (nobody should ever get to know this fishing spot), he walked for a few miles down this small creek.
He seemed to be the only one fishing over there, nobody else ever thought there was any fish in this kneedeep babbling brook.
As he turned older he became more curious about where this small creek came from. His parents bought him a mountainbike which gave him te opportunity to cycle into the hills. As he turned older he became more curious about where this small creek came from. His parents bought him a mountainbike which gave him te opportunity to cycle into the hills. He found out that Cove Creek sprang from all kinds of small ditches and streams in the hills. Not a single good fishing spot was discovered, but he found out he was a very good uphill cyclist. This is where his cycling career started.
He went out cycling a lot more since then... without fishing gear.
With so many tarmac roads into the hills and mountains around it didn't take long before his parents bought him a race bike. He got noticed by a Kingsbridge Cyclingteam scout (who was there on a small vacation) while he was punching the hills around Headrick Gap.
All uphill road segments on Strava had the same king of the mountain: Tommy Timmons.
As the team's focus changed more to the cobblestone races, Tommy knew his best days in the teams belonged to the past. Now, at the age of 34, the ending of a beautiful carreer comes near.
Tommy has won 4 races, all on the 7th and 8th level, and he also achieved 24 other top 10 finishes, also on the 5th and 6th level.
All together the team is very thankfull, Tommy always stayed faithfull to the team and rode his whole carreer in the Kingsbridge colours.
'I thank the team for giving me the opportunity to live my dreams' Tommy said in a flashinterview with a local newspaper.
After his carreer he will become a training-staffmember for the team, with a small facility in Wears Valley.
'I'll also teach the young riders how to catch trout in small creeks' Tommy concluded.
