Featuring many famous climbs around this city, only the strongest rider will be able to raise his hand on the finish line and put his name alongside Lionel Lefever, Joppe Marant, Euzebiusz Jastrz?bski and Ethanael Lackey as a winner of the race.
Starting on the Porto city center, most exactly on the "Aliados" where absolutely everything happens, the race quickly heads inland alongside the Douro River. Unfortunately the riders won't have time to appreciate the beautiful views from this World Heritage Site designated by UNESCO since the climbs will start just after 30 km into the race.
The "Serra da Boneca" with its 4 km at 9% won't be the major difficulty of the race, but it will surely show who isn't fit enough for the torture that will fallow.
Just 10 km after this climb, the race heads into the "Serra do Montemuro". A initial climb with 9,6 km and a slope of 4% will be followed by the hard climb to the top of Montemuro.
Despite being 100 km away from the finish, the 9 km at 10% from this climb will eliminate many riders from the peloton.
After a somewhat flat period and with 40 km to go, we'll have the penultimate climb of the race, the "Serra da Aboboreira" with 20 km at 4%. Not too steep, but very long, this climb is the ideal place for an attacker to break away.
And finally, the last climb - "Serra do Marão". 10,3 km with a massive 11% slope (max. 22%) is something only a true champion can conquer.
If you were looking for an anthem to cycling, you came to the right place!
