The race has probably received much of its prominence and attracts quality up and coming riders because its early editions had such winners as Jan-Joost Dussel and Matthijs Telkamp, in fact the flat nature of the Latrobe Valley route is especially suited to riders who can later make their name on the flatlands of the Netherlands. The race begins in front of the passionate and sometimes even feral crowds in Morwell, before winding its way through the power station city of Traralgon, along the Princes Highway to Rosedale and further on to the major Gippsland city of Sale where the race finishes with a withering sprint finish in the middle of the "Oil City". Fans travel from all over eastern Victoria to watch this race, early in the OCM season

Description
The terrain in Morwell - Sale has no climbs and has only easy downhills. The terrain has no hills and has many flat and straight roads. The finishing invites for a hard sprint testing the riders' abilities in a sprint. The route is pretty technical. Wind speed: 8,2 m/s.
