After the start the route will take the riders past the Long John (Lange Jan) and the abbey where the States-Provincial of Zeeland gathers. This monumental sidepoints are left behind when the route crosses the canal and carries the riders to the Nieuwe Vlissingseweg. Not without passing by the beautiful Zeeuwse Bibliotheek.
The Nieuwe Vlissingseweg leads to the centre of Vlissingen (Paul Krugerstreet - Town Hall Square). From there the riders will take a short detour via the Bathhousestreet to the stunning and windy Boulevard of Vlissingen. This is the hardest part where the riders will have to spend their last reserves and more. The Boulevard de Ruyter is the last part of the time trial and the finish is at a historical statue of Michiel de Ruyter, maybe the best admiral Holland ever had.
The last living legend who had won this time trial is Dennis Faltus. He won the sixth edition and is still very proud on that. A interesting detail is when Angelo Zomagnon saw this historical and monumental cities, he decided to gave the Giro-finish of the 3rd stage in 2010 to Middelburg. Here has won Wouter Weylandt his last stage, before he crashed later that Giro.
