Huy lies along the river Meuse, at the mouth of the small river Hoyoux. Huy Minis starts in the city center of Huy, before the peloton start there journey against the Mur de Huy. Huy Minis is all about this iconic hill, here is where the winner of Huy Minis is decided. But before the peloton arrives at the bottom of the Mur, they will cross the Li Pontia, the bridge over the River Meuse. A beautiful stone brigde.
The Mur de Huy is a 128 metres high hill. It is also known as le Chemin des Chapelles (English: The Path of the Chapels) because of the seven chapels along its route. The climb has a length of 1,300 m with an average grade of 9.3% and some sections around 17% (up to 26% in one bend). It’s a dangerous race because of the fight for position leading on to Mur de Huy. The atmosphere is second to none along the climb. Since the finish line is right at the top, it comes down to timing and judgement as it does good legs. Since the climb is just over 1.2km long and the winner can’t afford to start the sprint too early; he have to be experienced and patient.
