Following a brief passage on flat roads heading North West, the Peloton passes through the village of Saint-Vallier-de-They towards the first climb of the day. L’Audibergue, 1,640 meters high is the first climb of the day – Following the steep climb, the peloton will be tested with an equally challenging descend, where the Peloton will be heading towards the Plateau de Caussols. While approximately 739 meters above sea level, the Plateau will test the Peloton, and for possible breakaways on the first climb, it will be necessary to cooperate closely to keep the peloton away.
The following climb will occur when the leaders has passed Gourdon and headed north towards Gréolières. The route towards Gréolières will enable the riders to nourish before the final section of today’s race. After Gréolières has been climbed, the leader group will focus on the “grande finale” at the paragliding heaven of Col de Bleine in Thorenc. 1,439 meters of ascend that will be likely to be raced at a fierce pace, since the average of 6.2 % on the last 5 km, this section will probably become decisive of who will take home the honors of this Classic this season.
