The race starts in the tiny town of Draycott, in front of the Saint Peters Chruch, which is made with pink "Draycott Marble" from the nearby quarry. The riders take a 5-kilometer sprint over Draycott Road, heading for Cheddar. In Cheddar, they take a right, entering Cliff street. That's where they enter the Cheddar Gorge, and thats where the race gets epic. The gorge was formed by meltwater floods of glaciers over the last 1.2 million years. It results in cliffs as high as 137 meters. The riders take several spectacular hairpins ,often observed by the goats who wander over the hills. The road gets as steep as 16 percent, but the short overall distance to cover (10 kilometres) also provide opportunities for sprinters. The winner doesn't only take home $12,000 and 70 points for his team, but also a 15-pound cheddar, provided by local Cheddar Gorge Cheese
