Bryne is located on the southern shores of the lake Frøylandsvatnet, about 25 minutes south of the city of Stavanger by train.
The beaches of Jæren are a joy no matter what the weather, and the weather changes frequently, so be prepared. It’s as if the landscape is tranquil and languid and nature is unyielding and hard, but then it can flare with explosive force. Here you are part of everyday life and it’s been said that you haven’t seen the whole of Norway if you haven’t seen Jæren.
But the riders is not here to enjoy the beach life at the different beaches along the coast line of Jæren district. The race starts outside Bryne Stadion, the stadium of the local football team Bryne FK. Its only 17km from Bryne to Varhaug, but the riders will not take the shortest route to Varhaug. From the stadium, the riders will go west against Ålgård. The village is located along the European route E39 highway, about 10 kilometres southeast of the city of Sandnes in the Jæren district of the county. The route continues on E39 from Ålgård down south to Vikeså. From Vikeså the route goes southwest towards Egersund. The town is located along the southwestern coast of Norway, about 75 kilometres south of the city of Stavanger.
Inside Egersund the route turns back again, against Varhaug. The riders will then follow the coastline on Jæren, here the riders need to pay attention to strong cross winds from the North Sea. This might split up the peloton. On there way northwards, the race will go true some small villages like Brusand, Vigrestad and Årsland before the finish line in Varhaug.
The finish line in Varhaug is found at Varhaugvegen. The peloton have to take a 90 degree turn to the right from Nordsjøvegen to Varhaugvegen, just 1 km before the finish line. The sprint teams need to watch out here, so they dont lose there main man before the sprint finish in Varhaug. Varhaug is the administrative centre of Hå municipality in Rogaland county. The village is located in the district of Jæren and it is the second largest village in Hå municipality after Nærbø.
