The presence of such a big trade and cultural center as Katowice means the neighbouring cities exist in its shadow, therefore Bytom decided to host a few cycling races in order to attaract tourists and businesses. Grand Prix Bytom is one of those races and it is dedicated to sprinters.
After leaving the Market Square in Bytom riders quickly jump on road nr 11 and head north to Tarnowskie Gory and further into the pine forests area of Lubliniec, where they make a big circle and come back to Bytom through Swierklaniec and Piekary Slaskie.
The road stays flat for most of the time so a mass sprint finish on the streets of Bytom is expected, with a small bumpy pave section few hundred meters before the line.
