Going Global: Russian Roulette: The Perm Tour Rollercoaster!
Sometimes, the best-laid plans go out the window the moment the flag drops—and honestly, that’s exactly why we love this game (and cycling).
We headed into the Perm Tour with a strategy: test Steffen Tveit on Stage 1, take a breather on the climbs, and try to hunt some points with Neil Karstark on the TT and on the final stage. But our 20-year-old Norwegian prospect had other ideas.
The Tveit Breakthrough
Steffen started hot with a 4th place finish on the hilly sprint of Stage 1. That result shifted our entire mindset. We decided to roll the dice: we sent him into the breakaway on the grueling "King Stage" (Stage 2) to Perm.
Against all odds, he didn't just survive the climb; he dominated it. He dropped the breakaway companion Keenan Belanger (96 Ole) and powered through the rain to take a massive solo victory. By the end of the day, Steffen was sitting pretty in the General, Sprint, and Youth classification jerseys.
"I have dreamed of this since I was a kid. My result today proves that hard training is worth it," a buzzing Steffen told us after crossing the line.
The Reality Check
Of course, cycling is a cruel sport. Stage 3 was a Time Trial through the picturesque streets of Perm, and while we hoped Steffen could limit his losses, the climb in the GC was too steep. He finished 85th, tumbling down the leaderboard. Neil Karstark gave it a go (finishing 22nd), but the points we were hunting proved elusive.
A Sprinter’s Showdown
The final stage was a classic 69km criterium through Perm, finishing right in front of the Opera and Ballet Theatre. We knew the Sprint Classification was within reach, but the math was tight.
It turned into a straight-up dual between our boy and Yoeri De Vaddere (Malowe). It was a thrilling, high-speed finish, but De Vaddere had the cleaner lead-out and the legs to match. Steffen crossed in a very respectable 2nd place on the stage and just missed out on the Sprint Classification jersey.
Looking Ahead
Steffen Tveit has officially arrived. He’s maxed out his potential at a very solid 262 SARS (HL+SP+FR+TQ), and while his Perm Tour journey ended just shy of a clean sweep, he showed us exactly the kind of fighter he is.
For a 20-year-old on his first big international stage race, this wasn't just a "good" tour—it was a statement of intent. The WonderDee colors are going to be a nuisance for the rest of the peloton for a long time to come.

An interesting tour for sure
Happy to hear! :) Next weekend the next talent is ready.
I like your posts!
This was an extra post, normally I will post every 30 day (when a new talent pop up). But I might do extra post like this when something extraordinary happens with some of the riders that is part of this going global project.
