The newspapers named Grímólfur Beinteinnsson a lame viking and a dinosaur rider, but he proved the critics wrong today.
He almost seemed like a reborn Captain or a viking smelling blood at the Tavira - Faro race - winning was a stroll in the park for him! With a perfect position before the final hill and the flat flamme rouge, he timed his sprint beautifully.
Grímólfur Beinteinnsson looked like a superb signing for Team Formand United 1½ seasons ago on the paper, but getting results from him has been difficult. Only a 4th place at another hill race has been the other Top 10 from him.
- Finally we got this hill victory with The Viking as a Captain, and I am so happy that we succeeded.
Grímólfur Beinteinnsson did a perfect job today, and the team really supported him, said Ebbe Spas, Team manager of Team Formand United, after the race.
- I know we have a nice hill team, but the results have been lacking recently. But now the wave has turned, Spas added.
The Viking from Iceland did not want to talk to the press, he wanted to concentrate on his training and restitution of course. He is now no. 500 on the World list, ways aways from his best season where he ended in Top 60 five years ago.
