Sibiu - Sighisoara is a classic one-day race located in the centre of Romania. Sibiu is a typical Transylvanian urban settlement, it has a beautiful historic medieval centre, with narrow streets and impressive public places. The development during the communist regime did little to enhance its attractiveness for tourists but it did increase the population to almost 170 000 inhabitants. Sibiu has also been a European Cultural Capital in 2007, the year when Romania got into the European Union.
The road from Sibiu to Sighisoara, passing by Medias and Dumbraveni, is not very technical, and it includes no real climbs, although the organizers found a small hill and a technical descent in the last 5 km that may favour the specialists in downhill and in hilly races. Nevertheless, the most probable outcome will be a bunch sprint, because the race is not very tiring and the peloton should regroup just in time for the lead out trains to initiate the fight for the title.
After the race, the riders will enjoy Sighisoara, an amazing tourist site, part of UNESCO World Heritage. They will probably be most impressed by its towers, in particular the Clock Tower and the towers whose names come from medieval guilds , such as the Rope makers' Tower or the Tailors' Tower, and they will also be glad that the famous 175 steps to the Hill School (Scoala din Deal) are not included in the race itinerary.

The terrain in Sibiu - Sighisoara has no climbs and has an average difficulty of downhills. The terrain includes a few hills and has many flat and straight roads. The finishing invites for a hard sprint testing the riders' abilities in a sprint. The route demands a bit of technique from the riders.
