After the podium celebration in Berlin where Maximino Teles received his medal for his 3rd place on the General Classification, Maximino announced the Portuguese and German reporters that it was his last Germany Tour participation.
"The last few seasons have been exceptional to me, looking back, I can't believe I enjoyed so much success here on the most important Tour in OCM! It has been just 5 participations, one in Season 56 just to get to know the important Stages and support Pascoal Baptista and then the last 4 seasons where I managed to win 2 and finish 3rd on the other 2 editions! Now, at the age of 32, I think it's time for me to try to win the Vuelta de los Castillos before I'm too old for that. The World Championships is also a target I like to repeat after winning it in Season 58. I joined it 5x times, too and achieved a 1st, 5th, 6th, 9th and 13th. Let's see if I can repeat the success in the next couple of seasons. Now that we'll have a new route every season, this plan might fail, or be even better."
It isn't clear who will replace Teles as the leader from YST on the Germany Tour next season, but the short list includes Vuelta's GC winner Michał Hebel and the 2 youngsters Joris Van Groessen and Iúri Moro who could still target the YC, a classification that the team never won in Germany.
Maximino Teles palmarès also includes the 15th Anniversary Race, a trophy he’s still waiting to receive from the hands of Nick Lissner himself.
