Demy Alards, past world champion and voted best breakthrough rider, has won his last race with Cloud Atlas with an impressive win in the Div.1 Hong Kong Hourrecord. Alards has spent his entire professional career at Cloud Atlas and has now been transferred to Cycling team FPS for 600k making it the team's highest transfer value to date.
Demy mentioned after the race to reporters from South China Morning Post that his win was fueled by extra motivation due to comments earlier in the week from competing managers that he was not worth the transfer value agreed upon.
The win was bittersweet as Demy said his goodbyes to his teammates, including his brother Bas, who will stay in the team as part of the Climbing squad.
It is Demy's second win of the season and he can now be found training with his new team in the hills of Wales as he prepares for a chance at new Palmares in his new team.
