Hello everyone and happy New Year!

I have not been very active lately with development, and I certainly want to get more back on track.

Today I was fixing a few minor bugs reported and minor adjustsments here and there.

With the recent retirement of Patryk Drozdowski, I think it is worth to take a moment honoring this rider who achieved something I find to be the most incredible I have seen in the history of OCM.

That is quite something. We have seen many great accomplishments throughout the history of OCM. I thought that the achievement of Sandro Montelbano would never be topped, but looking at Patryk Drozdowski, it is safe to say that this has been done - with lenghts.

Patryk Drozdowski won the biggest tour in the OCM calendar no less than 8 times - 5 of them in a consecutive row. Adding to this, he also finished 2 twice. Naturally, you do not achieve this without brilliant stage performances, but Patryk Drozdowski did much more. A total of 21 stages won in Germany Tour is also a testimony to the great achievement. He won the youth competition thrice and managed to become World Champion while he was still contesting for youth competitions in a season where he not that many days before stood on top of the GC podium in Germany.

I therefore wanted to honor this rider properly. But how to honor a rider who stands out that much?

I decided to bring in a new racing concept also known from real life cycling - introducing the

  Patryk Drozdowski Trophy Cup

The cup is a competition that is somewhere inbetween a tour and a one day race. Basically, it is a tour, but rather than competing on time, riders compete on points. They score points on each stage.

The Patryk Drozdowski Trophy Cup consists of 3 races.

Stage 1 is a time trial and awards 45 points to the winner, 35 points to the second place, 30 points to the third place, 25 points to the fourth place, and so on.

Stage 2 is a tough climbing stage and awards 45 points to the winner, 35 points to the second place, 30 points to the third place, 25 points to the fourth place, and so on.

Stage 3 is an all-round stage benetting those with great downhilling abilities much like Patryk Drozdowsk himself and awards 50 points to the winner, 40 points to the second place, 35 points to the third place, 20 points to the fourth place, and so on.

The cup is in Division 1.

If the Patryk Drozdowsk Trophy Cup becomes a success, we may see more organizers focusing on the cup-format for the future in addition to the existing tours.

I hope you will enjoy this new feature, and I personally look forward to the first edition of the cup next season.

  Best regards,
  OCM Developer Nick

The placement on the Division 1 calendar was well done, there's no other Classics/Tours between Days 22 and 40. This looks like it will go off on Days 30-31.

I must say i'm a little disapointed to read that someone did better than Sandro, but records are meant to be broken :D

Nice idea you had ! Hope i will be able to join this new tour soon.

Nice to see that there is another great goal to go for it …..

(this one is not for me, I shall wait for possible a sprint cup)

Such a legend earns an achievement.
(3 wins or so, or win several legend races)

Nick nice to see you back!

This Cup competition looks a great idea! It looks perfect for sprinting Tours! Fighting for bonus seconds in the NL Tour is always... strange... This would make this much more interesting!

  Enjoy responsibly,

I understand your feeling Yann, I also do not like to read that someone did better than Farruco;-)

By the way, the points distribution for all stages should be present on the stage's pages. It doesn't make sense not to know it in detail in my opinion...
A small description on how the cup works also makes sense on the Cup's page and stages description is up to us the community :)

  Enjoy responsibly,

Thanks for the nice words guys.

There's definitely a sprinting cup coming for div 1. With a Germany Tour sign-up pattern, since the lower half of div 1 already has Nederlandse Tour.

And then I plan on adding a cup to each division. The plan is that the cup will have the kind of focus that is not already covered by tours in the particular division.

Also, I hope I can make a more steady return to development. I miss writing code a lot.

Yeah, Yuri, that is coming for sure.

But I was heading for bed and realised there might be someone noticing it already today, so I wanted to announce it before leaving it there, even though there are still a few things left to add; i.e. point tables. That's why I just described the competition here as a temporary solution.

Nice. For the sprinting cup in top div, how about having an extra incentive that the first rider to win it three times gets his name on the cup?

  @ABK lol

Happy 2019 Nick, good to see you're still around!

I like the concept of this cup, and even though I completely understand it because it's in the context of a recently retired OCM legend, I'm a little disappointed to see it's another update in which only the top managers will participate. The lower divisions are just as important imo, especially to keep new managers aboard.

Not on all, I don't think there will be a lot of teams in Div 10 or 11 to ride, even in Div 9.

Yes, in Div 8 there is normal activity. From that place I would put the cups/tours

If i understand well, there will be tour/sprinting tours?

I am glad to see such news!

Anyway, regarding those other "new" tours. SC in several cases are dominated by non-sprinters. Valparaiso is one example. One may call it feature, but I would call it bug. Bug that can be easily fixed by changing points.

Whats wrong with hillers / hill sprinter get a shoot on a jersey too? The hill tours is often won by TT riders. Last Valparaiso was won by a sprinter.

In the last eight editions of the Vuelta a Espana a climber won the points classification six times, must be a bug as well. ;)

Thomas, I have the same with Royce and Armando. In particular at Ruoen - Paris, that was an epic streak.

Both could have earned more wins and pts if the other wasn't around but it was good fun competing. I guess we still are but father time has caught us.
