  Hey guys

I have planned a few changes in the game in an attempt to make it easier for new teams.

Two of the changes are already in place:

  1) Training costs are reduced by 10% permanently

  2) Division bonuses are doubled - when you move up a division, you now get 20.000 instead of 10.000

I have more changes coming in the next few days, in particular, I am going to drastically improve the starting captain generated for new teams, as this will make new teams more competitive if they too quickly climb the ranks (which is often seen).

I have also decided to make a slight adjustment to the age influence towards age influence playing a slightly smaller role. It will not change a lot, but I think it is suitable. This is not in effect yet, but will shortly be implemented. The change is so small, that I do not find it necessary to announce a specific date. It may also not be the last tweak I will make, as I have previously announced that I will constantly strive to tweak the experience/age balance.

  Best regards,
  OCM Developer Nick

As a relatively new team stuck in a waiting pattern due to a lack of cash I applaud these changes.

As it stands a new team can generate enough cash to fully train around 1.5 riders by selling the team down to 9 riders, racing a few easy races (in the beginning) and ensuring jobs are completed as they come available. You then end up in a division where podiums are near impossible to achieve and stagnate.

The changes as announced should ensure teams can get closer to fully training two riders as well as having an initial captain of some use. So a total of 3 useful riders vs the 1.5 riders as per the current situation.

The only gripe I have is can we backdate the changes a couple of months :)

Could we get the date of the "tweaks" even if its post release? It makes life easier for those of us who follow these things.

It would also be nice to have a little more detail on what the change is doing.
Decreasing the age/exp means stats are more important?
My guess is this change is to allow young riders get more results as this is the group it would help the most?
This also seems to be the theme of this change, allowing new teams find and train a captain and get results.

Like percynz, I signed up just after the 10yr fun (so no speedy talents or half price training etc) and have now done most of the divisional promotions & spent a load of money on full-price training, so that's a little annoying, but I'm not going to complain about you making the game better

I hope the age fix doesn't mean old riders doing even better because they are doing well enough imho

The 2 changes already implemented are great improvements, great job Nick!

  @gabbo
The intention of the fix is to make young riders perform a little better. So our aim isn't to improve the oldies either.

Maybe also 10% discount on scouting? Or would it be too much to ask for?

  Great news from Nick.

I would also suggest new teams for a limited period have exclusive rights to hire released riders on the Hirelist.

This would give new teams better chances to sign trained riders on the cheap.
New teams could be teams registered the last 90 days. To prevent cheating they could lose this exclusive right if they have wildcard. With a wildcard they have the chance to sign riders from the transfer forum and don't need exclusive access to hire riders from the HL.

  Hi Nick,

I have suggested this before, I'm still for having a tutorial where completion gives new teams a small cash bonus as well.

E.g Sign Up for your first race, 5000, buy a new rider 3000 scout your first rider 8000 etc, making the total bonus around 30k.

Completing your first season , 10k (racing at least once race every 9 days for the entire season)

Also maybe putting a limit on the number of challenges per day.

Also adding some objectives for older teams might be nice, e.g. select objectives on day 80 of the new season, if you meet them you get a bonus, 50 % met half the bonus

  E.g.
  1. top 10 pick one race, if top 10 10k
  if top 20 5k

  2. top 3 pick one race (not picked yet) if top 3 20k
if top 6 and not top 3 10k
if top 10 and not top 6 5k
  if top 20 3k

etc, I think this will give managers something to focus on and might also draw in new players to stick around for a while. It should be easy to implement this (as always easier said than done).

I'd be willing to structure something in terms of these suggestions in a google sheet doc if you are interested in this.

  So,
   - more money
   - cheaper training
   - better riders to start with.

All changes go towards stronger riders. This goes in line with the usual phenomenon in all games: 95% of the changes users ask for are for getting ahead faster. This is not completely rational, because also the others will get ahead faster. I am usually more inclined towards changes that make it harder to advance and thus create bigger differences between top and normal players (here: riders).

It seems that the first team with an "improved" captain has been registered: StuckOnWheels.

Not bad assuming he can serve as team mate till 36 - 37 and then retire as a trainer.

If the captain were younger it'd be tempting to em.. instruct all my co-workers to register a new Bermudan team and release their captain :p So I think 32's actually a perfect age as he can still perform for a while, but not worth a ton of money..

Great changes to stimulate new teams to stick around! I feel every improvement aimed at expanding the base of users in this game is important, as too few (relatively) new teams seem to find the motivation to compete in this game for more than a week or a month

Would we be right in assuming that the experience with which the new teams captains are generated is the average experience for that age?

it still says in the overview you get 10k, instead of 20 for division bonus. You do actually receive the 20k though.

I have just moved up, and I got this message:

Local authorities noticed your team's positive development and decided to reward your team. You earned 10000$. 11:36

In my Economy, it also say 10000. However I am pretty sure, that I recieved 20000 in my Cash.

I guess the message hasn't been changed yet, you're supposed to get 20000, so if you got it everything seems to be fine. Expect this game to have little flaws like that. I see it as one of its charms
