This race will run along a section of Williston Lake famous for being the largest reservoir in Canada. The race starts in the village of Hudson’s Hope, the third oldest European community, in British Columbia. It is nestled in the Rocky Mountains on the banks of the Peace River. The race starts in the village of Hudson’s Hope, the third oldest European community, in British Columbia. It is nestled in the Rocky Mountains on the banks of the Peace River. This small village is overwhelmed by crowds up to 10 times greater than its population, of just over 1,000, for the start of the race.
The riders will take Canyon Drive out of the village. Just a kilometre from the start they begin their first small climb, a hill by British Columbian standards, of the day. Only the brave or the foolhardy launch a breakaway here. The riders will turn onto Bullhead Mountain Rd after slowly climbing for about 11 km. Over the next 15 km they will climb over 400 metres without reaching the summit. Just before beginning their descent the riders will get a glimpse of the lake stretched out below them. They won’t have time to enjoy their view as they begin a very steep descent of nearly 500m in just 6 km down to 12 Mile Road that runs along the north shore of the lake.
Soon the riders will once again be on Canyon Dr. heading down to the W.A.C. Bennett Dam, one of the world’s largest earth filled dams. Riding over the dam, pretty much the only flat section of the race, the riders are treated to breathtaking view of the lake. Once over the dam, Mt Gething looms ahead. The riders are faced with a 20 km climb that takes them to an elevation of over 1500 without quite reaching the summit. Then again a descent into the valley that is shorter and steeper than the climb. Before the riders have a chance to relax from the harrowing descent it is once again uphill for the final climb of the day. Battleship Mountain, with an elevation of over 1800m, is where the race will finish. Only the strongest climbers with the best legs will be there for the final 5 km where grades can reach 10%.

Description
The terrain in Williston Lake Race includes many steep and hard climbs and has a few incredibly hard downhills. The terrain has no hills and has only a few flat roads. The finishinging climb of the stage is awfully steep and tough, demanding everything from the riders. The route demands a bit of technique from the riders.
