Tour of Khakassia   

Abakan is the starting town of the Tour of Khakassia aswell as the capital city of the Republich of Khakassia. Not known to many Abakan is important to others as it has been inhabited for ages and they even discovered an old Chinese palace build for, mostlikely, Li Ling, a general in the Han army who served under the reign of Emperor Wu and later defected to the Xiongnu after being defeated in an expedition many moons ago.

In modern times the city is know as a bustling center for the area of Khakassia and a commercial center with a river port that distributes all wares from and to the republic. As the lands are predominantly flat the Tour of Khakassia is built for sprinters who want to give it their best in the end.

As a mechanism for tourism the tour shows all the beauties of the country and hopes that it will attract tourism and another important feature it to promote cycling among its residents to let them experience the wonders of the nation. The race travels from and to Abakan and passes the rivers and lakes and all the plains before heading back into town. In Abakan the teams with sprinters race to secure a good spot for their captain and deliver him well at the Lenina Prospekt just in front of the house of government. It is he who has the most left over who will outsprint the others and gains eternal glory. For now at least.
