The race starts in the village of Hell in Stjørdalen municipality. From Hell the riders aren’t going to heaven, but pass the regional airport of Værnes before heading south towards Selbu, most famous for knitted mittens. Along the way, several shorter hills provide opportunities for riders with strong legs to make the race interesting.
At the end of the day the riders arrive in Tydal, well known for its hydropower production. This is also evident from the municipality’s coat of arms that include three high tension towers. The finishing climb is short, but has steep portions that will take any sprinters left in the group out of contention. The terrain should favor the stronger riders of the day and provide an exciting last few kilometers.
