Silver Sands, a quiet, beautifull beach situated on the southernmost part of Barbados, is where the starting ramp for Silver Sands-Cluffs is set.The only professional race of Barbados was originally a tour for tourists, organised by the local tourism office.

It shows the highlights of the tropical island, starting with almost 50 flat, straight kilometres along the coastline, which takes the rider through the capital of the island, Bridgetown. When the riders arrive at Holetown, they take a right, leaving the westcoast and entering the inland for the first time. The roads have a slight slope here, not enough to bother non-climbers but enough to provide an opportunity for a breakaway.

At Bathsheba, the riders pass the famous Andromeda Botanic Gardens. They catch a short glimpse of the ocean before leaving the eastcoast. If riders still have ambitions to break away this is the moment, because the parcours crosses Mount Hillaby, with 340 metres the highest point of the island. However, breakaways rarely get more than 30 seconds between the and the peloton, and with over 35 virtually flat kilometres to go, they almost never stand a chance.

As the riders approach the coast fro a final time, the captains will slowly move with their trains to the front of the peloton. The parcours takes an inland detour with a few sharp turns that might break up the order of the trains. In the last two kilometres, the riders take three more sharp turns before entering Cluffs for a straight finish.
